Summary:
The Assistant Director, Corporate Partnerships and Donor Relations will lead all facets of strategic corporate development and individual gifts fundraising. This position will be responsible for the creation and management of a well-coordinated development plan to cultivate and solicit financial and in-kind support from corporations, individuals, and other funding sources (including private and public foundations) that support the Society’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop annual corporate fundraising and development plans.
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to maintain and increase the fundraising efforts among the following key audiences: corporations, individuals, and public, private, and family foundations.
Develop and communicate comprehensive sales proposals.
Engage corporate executives, staff executives, and volunteer leadership in strategic dialogue designed to advance the association’s mission, goals, and organizational priorities.
Convene meetings with senior corporate executives of pharmaceutical, device, technology and other healthcare companies to secure corporate funding for organizational programs.
Research new and relevant industry partnerships by tracking pharmaceutical pipelines, FDA and 510K approvals.
Strengthen existing corporate relationships by year-round engagement with the organization and its members.
Collaborate with other divisions to identify organizational opportunities for alignment with industry.
Collaborate with the marketing division to build strategy around messaging, stories, and customized communication to sponsors and donors.
Optimize member involvement in fundraising and corporate development.
Be a creative and resourceful problem solver managing the balance between corporate expectations and organizational capabilities.
Direct management and growth of corporate educational grant revenue and work with senior management to ensure efficiency and peak capacity.
Oversee the stewardship process for all donors to ensure appropriate and timely acknowledgement, strategic stewardship, and fulfillment of corporate recognition commitments.
Identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit new corporate partner prospects and negotiate corporate support agreements.
Review and/or develop effective pricing strategies for sponsorships.
Work with cross-departmental teams to ensure organizational ability to meet any corporate offers, reporting deadlines and requirements are met.
Evaluate current concepts for untapped revenue opportunities.
Lead and manage proposal writing for all audiences.
Strengthen and grow individual giving, planned estate giving, and annual giving program with a vision for building a culture of philanthropy with the association’s membership.
In partnership with the Education department, ensure adherence to and monitor changes to appropriate external guidelines including, but not limited to, the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support, PhRMA Code, AdvaMed Code and OIG Guidance.
Create and work with staff to maintain fundamental systems and infrastructure (an annual calendar of fundraising activities, and a database of corporate, individual, and foundation contacts).
Preserve an ongoing history of interactions with corporate and individual prospects and donors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Proven track-record in fundraising (three or more years) with professional membership organizations or not-for-profits, preferably with medical professionals. Experience in the design and implementation of comprehensive fundraising campaigns. Healthcare product sales a plus.
Knowledge and understanding of current state of policy and quality priorities impacting oncology preferred.
Must be able to absorb information about a variety of medical and scientific topics and communicate it to others in lay language.
Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task several projects while adhering to timelines.
Ability to develop strong customer (stakeholder) relationships and navigate political environment. Relationship builder and re-builder who knows how to create collegiality and build alliances.
Knowledge and experience in managing senior volunteer relationships is highly desirable.
Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and as such, be a creative thinker, strategic and open-minded, to enhance profitability.
Excels in the art of presentations and communications. Able to design and deliver high impact executive level presentations.
Planning, budgeting and managerial experience is preferred,
Microsoft Suite – Word, PPT, Excel and Outlook.
Working with HubSpot or similar sales database..
Ability and willingness to travel and work some weekends.
