The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) is seeking a Sr. Specialist – Education and Meetings. We are searching for a motivated professional with 3-5 years’ experience in education, content creation, and meeting planning in an association environment. The position requires a versatile professional with the ability to multi-task and the knowledge of writing specifications for event management. The Sr. Specialist will interact daily with ASCRS member leaders and staff colleagues and should have a strong sense of ownership and accountability with the drive to continually learn and grow professionally.

What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Education and Meetings with specific meeting responsibilities reporting to the Director of Meetings.
The Sr. Specialist, Education and Meetings supports educational initiatives related to committee management, special projects, needs assessments and outcomes; and supports meeting planning for small- and large-scale events.
Education: Key Responsibilities (.50 FTE)
Manage key committee initiatives by serving as staff liaison to several committees with responsibilities to include agenda creation, calendar invitations and reminders, and taking notes.
Track strategic plan initiatives to ensure milestones and timelines are on track.
Create a collated statistical report on usage data for all education initiatives, and update quarterly with progress tracked.
Create annual educational needs assessment for grant requests, to align with the organization needs and gap analysis.
Develop Annual Meeting Outcomes after analyzing annual meeting data.
Assist in other projects as needed.
Meetings: Key Responsibilities (.50 FTE)
Review venue contracts, create meeting space grids, and assign space for all meetings.
Create meeting specifications and floor plan documents for all meetings.
Work closely with on-site caterer to create banquet event orders.
Assist in communicating event logistics to all involved parties. Update planning tools.
Manage pre-event and onsite logistics. Act quickly, diplomatically, and in the best interest of ASCRS to resolve pre-event and onsite challenges.
Work with on-site vendors.
Manage the Award Process, including recognition, production, and delivery following the meeting.
Qualifications
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years’ experience of working in education and/or meetings with specific experience writing/producing detailed meetings specifications.
CMP required.
Experience in nonprofit organization preferred.
Experience working with physicians preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and the Office 365 environment.
Service-oriented attitude and the desire to multitask on a variety of projects.
Creative and innovative with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
Ability to travel up to 15 days annually throughout the year.
