The Association of Rheumatology Professionals (ARP) is the interprofessional division of the American College of Rheumatology, supporting the needs of this diverse group of interprofessionals working in the medical subspeciality of rheumatology by providing professional training and development, research, advocacy, and practice resources.
Since its founding in 1985, the Rheumatology Research Foundation (the largest private funding source for rheumatology research and training in the U.S.) has invested more than $205 million directly into its two mission priorities: rheumatology training and development and targeted rheumatic disease research. Programs funded by the Foundation train the next generation of rheumatology professionals who are tackling rheumatology’s challenges and working toward discoveries to improve the health of people with rheumatic disease.
POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading cross functional teams to support the successful delivery of complex organizational Information Technology and other business driven IT projects. Primary responsibilities include creation and evolution of core technical project management processes and methodologies for the organization that directly supports strategic and fiscal goals, as well as creation of effective and efficient processes for communicating progress.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish processes and methodologies for successful project management of complex systems implementation and integration projects, as well as application development and enhancement projects and infrastructure/technology upgrades.
Effectively and efficiently initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and control, and close all assigned projects.
Create and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, assigned resources, and risks for all assigned projects.
Directly support business needs and goals with all assigned projects, including but not limited to business process definition, user requirements gathering, and managing all stakeholder expectations.
Prepare, manage, and maintain detailed requirements documentation for entire project lifecycle.
Nurture and sustain constant, clear, and transparent communication with project staff and stakeholders.
Conduct periodic project status meetings with project staff and stakeholders.
Provide regular documentation and reports to project sponsors and senior management.
Champion project management best practices and support organizational process improvement initiatives.
Participate in identifying problems and suggesting solutions that the IT organization can implement.
Supports the evolution of the systems development methodology for the organization and ensure consistency of applying the systems development methodologies (following technical standards and procedures) across all organization projects.
Provides direction and manage team members comprised of employees and consultants that are assigned to the project in a matrix relationship
Plans and coordinates projects with users, development teams, and IT support areas
Responsible for managing the project control processes for Issues/Risks, Schedule, Operational Readiness, Scope, and Quality Assurance
Coordinates system changes across multiple platforms, develop and execute comprehensive project plans, and negotiate project scope, deliverables, and schedule
Some overnight travel as necessary to fulfill job and assigned responsibilities.
Any additional responsibilities as the Vice President, Information Technology may assign.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience. MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years of experience in all phases of systems and application implementation and development.
PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification strongly preferred.
Scrum Certification. Experience with Jira for agile implementation.
Strong experience as a project team leader, driving complex projects to successful implementation.
Strong knowledge of IT best practices, including systems and application implementation and development.
Demonstrated expertise and success in managing enterprise level projects on time, within budget.
Demonstrated experience with effective communication at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated experience with tracking and monitoring projects, including regular progress reporting.
Advanced experience with project management best practices and methodologies, including Agile.
Experience with development and maintenance of systems development methodology standards and practices.
Ability to think strategically, considering organizational goals and requirements with all projects.
Ability to foster, support, and sustain positive and constructive approaches with all projects.
Ability and experience to be flexible, effectively manage change, and handle stressful situations.
Ability to take initiative on assigned projects/tasks and work with minimal supervision to completion.
