Position Objectives:
Responsible for communicating the overall NAPHSIS brand, programs, products, and services via all appropriate methods, applications, and tools. The individual will also help ensure that our brand positioning and messaging resonates well in each market we serve.
The Communications and Membership Specialist (C&M Specialist) is expected to be a self-motivated, strategic thinker, and able to drive key communications to the right audiences at the right time for maximum impact. It is important that the individual is pro-active rather than reactive in their communication messages and activities. Promotion of meetings and trainings is of particular importance.
The C&M Specialist will have several areas of focus: 1) create comprehensive, clear, informative communications for all internal and external stakeholders, 2) communicate about the association's products & services which include but are not limited to, systems technology, meetings & events, and programmatic activities and 3) monitor and update the membership list. Based on these focus areas, the C&M Specialist will be expected to build a strategic communications plan for NAPHSIS that successfully promotes all areas of the association.
Key Communications Duties and Responsibilities:
The C&M Specialist will gather information and expertise from subject matter experts and create strategic, targeted content to help NAPHSIS reach its various audiences: vital records professionals, corporate members and vendor communities that help supply and support the membership, and our partners in the Public Health and Identity realm.
The individual will take the lead in creating and organizing the Association's communication schedule, producing its monthly newsletter (and any other messaging vehicles we may employ), supporting communication needs of funded programs, and managing social media platforms. Communicating about the association’s meetings and trainings will be an important aspect of this position. Bringing awareness and creating interest through content and design will be a major responsibility for this position. The C&M Specialist will contribute to concepts and execute creating promotional materials (printed, online, and aps) such as program guides, exhibitor/sponsor prospectus, website design, and event signage. This individual will also work closely with the Systems team to create occasional promotional materials for our technical products/services and our Program staff to promote availability of program products/services. The C&M Specialist will also lead the content and design of the Association’s annual report, its website, and social media presence.
Key Membership Duties and Responsibilities:
The C&M Specialist will oversee the annual membership renewal process, this includes creating the renewal communications, following up with members, and capturing all renewal information. Additionally, the C&M Specialist will regularly monitor and update the membership list to ensure all members are receiving appropriate communications.
Education/ Work Experience:
4-year college degree preferably in communications or a minimum of 3 years communications and/or marketing experience. Experience working in membership associations. Familiar with a virtual working environment.
Skills and Abilities: * High level written and verbal communication skills * Experience in messaging/blast email platforms such as Constant Contact * Ability to create metrics and assess data to gauge and optimize performance * Experience working with external agencies to accomplish project deliverables * Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines * Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) * Experience with creating infographics/social media images with tools such as Canva
