SUMMARY

National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) is seeking a Memberships Specialist. This person is responsible for recruiting, engaging, and retaining all NCSS members, Associated Groups and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society chapters. This position supports the National Rho Kappa Advisory Council and NCSS House of Delegates and will report to the Deputy Executive Director. Salary range $50k - $55K.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the membership database and the membership recruitment process serving as the primary point of contact for inbound membership inquiries, requests, and processing
• Manage the membership renewal process (invoicing and reconciliation) and other associated membership business processes.
• Produce monthly and custom membership reports independently or in collaboration with the Director of Operations
• Assist in the development of membership recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies and marketing campaigns
• Develop a strong knowledge of council policies and procedures, support the Executive Director with the annual NCSS House of Delegates (annual business meeting), and update key NCSS contacts monthly.
• Lead NCSS awards and recognition programs data management and communication.
• Attend the NCSS Annual Conference and related events. Collaborate with external membership vendors to support membership business processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• 2-3 years’ experience in membership management, program administration and association/chapter relations management is a plus.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to multitask, work independently and efficiently under deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of website management/editing; knowledge of online presentation programs is desired.
• General office administration.
