Program Coordinator, Certification Services (hybrid)
As the Program Coordinator for the Certification Services department at the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS), your focus will be on supporting our candidates, diplomates, and credentialiers with guidance about board certification and continuing certification requirements and processing documentation. Additionally, you will maintain the member licensing database and oversee the processing and verification of hospital privileges documentation for our qualified and certified members. Reporting to the Credentialing Manager, you will be the essential connection point between our diplomates, candidates, and vendors, and the Certification Services team. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule based in our San Francisco office and working from your home office when appropriate. Once you get settled, you will have the opportunity to travel with other members of the team to conferences to meet our members face-to-face and answer their questions about board certification and the continuous certification processes.
At ABFAS, we strive to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by advancing the art and science of foot and ankle surgery. We are the only surgical certification board recognized by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) and have been offering our certifications since 1975. Our Board Certification is designed to safeguard the public welfare by ensuring rigorous, ongoing assessment of the technical knowledge of foot and ankle surgeons. In this role, you will answer the main phone line for ABFAS and provide guidance about the board qualification process, the board certification process and verification services. Acting as the primary point of contact for the certification services department requires a detailed understanding of the processes. We will support you with an in-depth onboarding and training program to familiarize you with the processes and resources available to get you up to speed.

Assist the Credentialing Manager in working with Podiatry Residency Resource (a residency management system) to ensure residents meet board qualification requirements; help process documents and update databases for candidates who achieve this status.

Support office administrative functions such as file and database maintenance, meeting support, receiving and distributing incoming mail and deliveries, and serving as the primary interface with visitors and vendors.
Maintain member license information. Verify through the podiatric state licensing boards that members/board qualified podiatrists have a current license to practice; research information on any adverse actions taken against a member by a licensing, judicial, or other government entity.
Two to four years’ experience in a customer service-oriented office administrative role, preferably in an association or nonprofit organization.
Excellent proofreading skills and the ability to check documents for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
Working knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM or other membership or relational database.
Familiarity with basic qualitative and quantitative research.
Experience updating and maintaining databases, preferably in a credentialing or certification organization.
Effective communicator. You understand the importance of tone and how to communicate clearly, whether it’s by email, over the phone, or face-to-face. You share information freely and keep staff and external stakeholders well informed.
Detail-oriented. You are meticulously attentive to details, get it right the first time, and accurately keep track of all the moving parts.
Curious. Our work is evolving and the context in which we work is dynamic. You are a continuous learner and ask questions to confirm your understanding of processes and systems.
Collaborative. You will be working with a wide range of external stakeholders and internally across the organization. This requires a flexible style that both complements the efforts and supports the needs of others.
Flexible. You are comfortable working in a fluid environment and can adjust in both day-to-day and larger-scale activities based on new information and situations.
