With approximately 1,300 members, The American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) serves residential, commercial, and civil construction estimators by providing Education, Fellowship, and the opportunity for Professional Development. Large enough to offer a full range of services, yet small enough to provide personal service and connections, ASPE is committed to advancing the Estimators profession.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Executive Director of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) is responsible for the leadership of the organization by providing strategic, operational, ethical, and passionate leadership consistent with the mission, vision, values, board oversight and policies, applicable laws, and regulations, and contractual obligations of the ASPE. As one of the foremost association leaders in the construction industry, the Executive Director ensures organizational excellence through assessment, transparency, collaboration, learning, creativity, communication, accountability, and exceptional member service. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and leads a staff of 2 full-time employees and 1 contractor.
This position is full-time remote; however, the candidate must live in the contiguous United States, and regional travel (10% planned) is required for this role.
The Executive Director assesses and responds to the needs of members, staff, and the board; keeps a focus on the organization's long-term objectives; balances strategic and tactical responsibilities; and represents the organization with multiple constituencies nationally.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You are an experienced individual with strategic vision, significant management experience in a complex mission-driven organization, strong resource development skills, an entrepreneurial approach, and an engaging communication style. You are also a goal-oriented individual with high energy and experience as a leader who is willing to take risks and make tough decisions based on thoughtful consideration of issues. You are a consensus builder utilizing a participatory approach to day-to-day operations. Additionally, you are/have:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree plus a minimum of seven years of construction industry and/or nonprofit leadership experience or equivalent combination of education or a related field.
Exemplary speaking, networking, communication skills, and professional demeanor.
Proven record of resource development; experience in developing non-dues income.
Self-reliant, solutions-focused, flexible, adaptable, results-oriented, and possess an attention to detail and a good sense of humor.
An attitude of servant leadership and passion for helping the organizations be successful in serving our members and the industry.
The ability to inspire and motivate prospective members, sponsors, and stakeholders include creating and communicating a compelling and inspiring vision and sense of organizational purpose.
Skilled in building organizational culture with the board, staff, and members that focuses on attaining the mission of the ASPE.
Expertise in ensuring that sound programs and services are developed and aligned with strategic plans.
Adeptness in forging alliances by gaining the trust and respect of members and other sources of support.
Proficiency in developing plans and budgets that are comprehensive, realistic, and effective in meeting goals and measuring organizational outcomes.
An ethical set of core values and beliefs, while demonstrating integrity.
