The Vice President, Public Affairs is an important part of the association’s senior leadership team and reports directly to NWPCA’s President/CEO, while leading and mentoring NWPCA’s Manager, Policy and Public Relations. The VP, Public Affairs directs the organization’s federal advocacy program (and state-level engagement when warranted) and builds national and state-level relationships with other forest industry and supply chain partners. The Vice President also has responsibility for the association’s Political Action Committee, and interfaces with the CEO and executive team to develop and deliver strategic growth of the organization.
Government Relations and Communications:
Advance a dynamic strategic approach to government and public affairs tied to the association’s strategic plan and NWPCA’s organizational growth objectives.
Develop and deliver association positions on regulatory and legislative issues by working with relevant Congressional committees, through developing and managing coalitions, and by identifying and obtaining the services of external experts as appropriate.
Collaboratively build communications strategies with existing communications staff and external experts that support advocacy objectives.
Expand NWPCA’s members’ direct relationships with regulatory and elected officials.
Persuasively present association positions in front of a variety of audiences.
Political Action Committee:
Lead and oversee the growth and impact of the NWPCA Political Action Committee (PalletPAC).
Ensure the sound financial management and compliance of the PAC with applicable federal campaign finance and election laws.
Required: A bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) with relevant and significant government affairs and advocacy work experience. CAE and additional language proficiencies a plus. Position based in Alexandria, Virginia. The individual must have the ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality or accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong proven track record of dealing collaboratively with other stakeholders to solve complex environmental issues and success growing PACs.
