The Director, Talent Acquisition and Retention is responsible for managing and leading the full cycle of recruitment activities. The incumbent will develop and implement contemporary recruitment strategies designed to attract qualified candidates for all levels of positions at the NAM. The incumbent works directly with hiring manager on recruitment search planning, evaluating applicant pool quality, implementing workforce planning and analytic strategies, and managing salary budget recommendations. The incumbent is also responsible for development and refinement of the electronic recruitment HRIS, as well as onboarding and orientation management.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Responsible for full cycle of recruitment activities to include development of recruitment strategies working with hiring manager, review/revision/writing of position descriptions and core competencies, interview and selection, reference and background checks.
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce recruiting HRIS is essential and full utilization of system capabilities is critical to the success for this position.
Responsible for staying within the approved compensation strategy and schedule and conducting research to develop an appropriate salary range for any new positions.
Responsible for training hiring supervisors on the process and periodic general training to management staff on recruitment and hiring processes.
Upon approval to proceed to recruit, determine appropriate recruiting strategy and methods, write ads and schedule/hold strategy intake meeting with hiring managers to determine preferences in how candidates will be screened and presented, niche recruiting sites or groups to target for advertising, and search criteria helpful for passive candidate searches.
Establish with hiring manager candidate interview steps with hiring manager and with panel interviewers.
Develop and maintain relationships with local HBCU’s for recruiting alumni and current students for open positions and internships.
Participate in local area college job fairs to development and maintain relationships with career offices to target public affairs, policy, and government relations candidates.
Work with hiring on panel score card, questions and debrief process after candidates have been interviewed by hiring manger and panel interviewers.
Screen resumes including searching readily available social media sources. Expectation is for all candidates who’ve applied through the career center will be screened and reviewed for possible match to the position requirements.
Working with the Senior Executive Assistant for Legal schedule applicant interviews, follow up correspondence to candidates, communication to hiring manager/panel as needed, and follow up scheduling for second or third round interviews.
Conduct thorough candidate interviews and recommend best candidates to hiring manager.
Arrange all follow up interviews, maintain resume files and records and handle rejection notices.
Maintain web site and internal postings; provide guidance to supervisors and department heads.
Prepare and sign employment confirmation letters.
Prepare appropriate approval documents for transfers, promotions, salary changes and other staffing changes utilizing the Ceridian Dayforce HRIS and closely coordinate with the HR team on onboarding.
Prepare and post IT notices to the New Hires and Changes Team account to properly notify all stakeholders of new hire dates and equipment and other needs.
Working with the Senior Executive Assistant for Legal, post announcement of all new hires to the NAM intranet in a timely manner but not less than 5 days before new hire start where possible.
Conduct hiring manager and new employee satisfaction surveys utilizing data to refine and improve the process.
Other Human Resources Activities
Position is point of contact for all Dayforce recruiting module maintenance and works with Ceridian tech support to resolve issues as they arise in the system.
Maintain and report HR performance metrics such as turnover, time to fill, cost per hire and other measurements as appropriate. Prepare quarterly metrics reports for manager and senior staff as necessary to review and measure progress to diversity goals.
Report quarterly on survey results for new hires and hiring managers and make recommendations on process, changes needed and/or other improvements to the recruitment system.
Create effective retention strategies and programs to meet stated retention objective for the NAM.
Ensure smooth administrative systems are in place and all employment files and databases are up to date.
Interface closely with payroll and perform timely HRIS updates.
Respond to various administrative requests, such as reference checks and mortgage applications.
Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes, trends and ideas through reading and membership in professional groups.
Make recommendations to vice president, human resources regarding changes in programs or policies.
Assist in the management of the annual employee performance evaluation and goal setting processes.
Conduct job analysis to update position descriptions and review against established compensation schedules.
Participate in salary/benefits surveys to benchmark against existing benefits and career band matrix.
Manage and continue to develop effective training, education and mentorship programs.

Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline; PHR designation a plus; a minimum of 6 – 8 years of experience directly related to strategic recruitment activities.
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce Recruiting HRIS is preferred.
Strong closing skills.
Experience with compensation programs management is desired.
Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and legal implications.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with strong listening ability.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal relations.
Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
Computer proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point), and the Internet; Ceridian or similar HRIS experience a plus.
