PURPOSE OF POSITION:To coordinate editorial production for JPharmSci and JAPhA, including administrative management of the electronic manuscript submission system.
Function 1:Coordinate editorial production and publication of JAPhA and JPharmSci (80%):
Coordinates manuscript submissions on the online manuscript submission sites, tracks receipt of articles for future issues, and works with editorial teams to ensure proper flow of manuscripts from submission to acceptance.
Provides timely assistance and instruction to authors on specific requirements for manuscripts and use of online manuscript submission system to ensure best practices and manage relationships and efficient workflow.
With Managing Editor, coordinates production of the online and print versions of the journals with the Elsevier Journal Manager.
With Managing Editor, serves as APhA staff liaison to each journal's editorial team, including attendance at annual editors' meetings and annual Editorial Advisory Board meetings.
Function 2: Journal metrics and reporting (10%):
Monitors peer review and publishing metrics and generates reports for each journal.
In coordination with Elsevier and the APhA digital team, tracks online usage of JAPhA, JPharmSci, and Pharmacy Today and generates reports on a monthly basis.
Function 3: Editorial production (10%)
Copyedits and proofreads editorial content for the periodicals as assigned.
Posts news articles to pharmacist.com
Minimum of 2 years of experience working on a scholarly journal or similar publication.
Additional skills, knowledge, and abilities required:
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in publishing software. Multimedia and social media skills are a plus.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Telecommuting is allowed.
