The American Board of Physician Specialties® (ABPS) is a nationally recognized multi-specialty certifying body that offers both allopathic and osteopathic physicians board certification options in a variety of specialties.

 

ABPS located in Tampa, Florida is seeking a Psychometric Consultant.

 

Specific duties will include:  

  • Providing test development staff consultation services and guidance regarding the development and maintenance of certification examinations both written and performance-based (oral exam) to ensure compliance of test industry standards
    • Also providing support for currently established processes and guidelines used for exam development
  • Designing, conducting, and facilitating job/practice analysis studies for new and current certification programs via survey and/or focus group
    • Developing test specifications/outline for written and oral performance exams
  • Conducting statistical analyses of items and evaluating written and oral performance exams
  • Writing technical test reports outlining exam performance
  • Presenting statistical performance results of exam administrations to board and exam committee members
  • Making presentations regarding test development activities and standards in person and virtually
  • Ability to participate in in-person and virtual meetings as needed
  • Ability to complete tasks/projects within a specified time frame

 

Position Status: Part-time contractual as needed based on project load

 

Worksite: Mostly remote but may require some travel

Desired Skills and Experience

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD degree preferred or Master’s Degree with sufficient relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in assessment and test development
  • Must have both theoretical and applied knowledge of the psychometric principles, statistical procedures, NCCA accreditation standards, and best practices related to assessment and measurement products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interact effectively, efficiently, and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Previous experience working with physicians, volunteer committees, or medical organizations/Boards a plus.
  • Must have previous experience with certification and high-stakes examinations
