In this newly created position, the Associate Executive Director (AED) would move into the executive director position upon retirement. The AED is responsible to the executive director and board of directors for the effective conduct of the affairs of the association. Works with executive director to recommend and participate in board formulation of association mission, goals and objectives and related policies. Within that framework, plans, organizes, coordinates, controls and directs the staff, programs and activities of the association.
Within the limits of the charter and bylaws of the association and policies established by the board of directors, the IEC Chapter Associated Executive Director works with Executive Director and with appropriate delegations on:
Establishes the organization structure for the IEC Chapter and related staff.
Establishes administrative policies and procedures for IEC Chapter functions.
Recruits, hires and trains staff and administers an effective personnel program which includes job descriptions, performance standards, appraisals and compensation system.
Staff supervision, reviews, etc.
Responsible for all human relations activities.
Develops and supervises an effective program of membership development and member services. Personally contacts members on a regular basis and delivers new member packets.
Social media development and management
Develops and maintains a publication program which is responsive to the needs of the membership.
Maintains an effective, ongoing public relations program.
Develops and conducts an education/training program to advance the professional/technical skills of the membership and their employees.
Conducts an annual meeting of the membership to report on the activities and progress of IEC Chapter programs each year.
Conducts any research necessary to the IEC Chapter and informs the Board or other appropriate members as needed. Conducts Member Benefit Survey, staff conducts Wage & Training Surveys.
Maintains an effective government affairs program to represent the interests of the IEC Chapter and its membership.
Manages the finances of the IEC Chapter, including preparation of the annual budget and financial reports as required by the Board of Directors.
Ensures the legal integrity of the IEC Chapter.
Plans, coordinates and records the meetings of the Board, Planning, Budget & Finance, Executive, Nominating and Legislative/GR Committees and general membership as needed working with Director of Marketing, Membership & Education.
Provides periodic reports to the Board of Directors as needed or when appropriate.
Monitors and assists Committees of the Board.
Oversee all financial operations. Process accounts payable.
IEC Profit Sharing Plan
Has regular contact with the Executive Director and Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Committees on policy matters and other issues as appropriate.
All IEC Chapter staff personnel report to the Executive Director.
Maintains personal contact to the greatest degree possible with the general membership, other IEC Chapter, IEC State (if appropriate), and IEC National office.
Maintains appropriate relationships with other Associations, the industry, government, public service organizations, and vendors (Associate Members) to enhance the image of the IEC and the attainment of its objectives.
Maintains contact with other IEC Chapter Executive Directors and National IEC staff.
Attends national and state meetings when possible.
Formed in 1972, the IEC Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapter is nonprofit trade association representing merit shop electrical contractors and other companies related to the electrical industry. In addition, the association provides a four-year electrical apprenticeship program. The national association was formed in 1957.

Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in and ability to:
Operations, committees, board of directors, meeting and event management, budgeting, and strategic planning. Work experience within a nonprofit association or other nonprofit organization preferred;
