Director, Industry Analytics
Summary of Responsibilities
Gather, analyze and report industry analytics to support USApple policies and lobbying activities for USApple staff, volunteer leaders and media
Conceive, author and present reports and presentations for use in live, print, online and webinar formats
Make presentations to national and state audiences on industry trends in production, storage, marketing, processing and exporting
Represent USApple at industry and agriculture coalition meetings on topics including food safety, horticultural research, pesticides, robotics and the environment
Prepare Market News publication - a monthly storage report of apple inventory with analysis and comparison to previous months and years
Generate state-specific data on farmgate value of the apple crop and downstream jobs and economic activity to support the government affairs and communications programs
Provide market intelligence on apple varieties, availability and market conditions to assist USDA in making government purchases for school and military programs
Respond to media and other inquiries concerning the economic/research aspects of USApple work
Staff liaison to the Industry Information Committee
Degree in economics, agricultural economics, agricultural science or related field.
8-12 years experience in trade association or government positions conducting analyses of production or policy changes.
The successful candidate will:
Possess an attention to detail; ability to gather, analyze and report critical industry data; a collaborative work style; and the creativity to imagine new deliverables;
Be well versed in conducting analyses of economic implications of production and/or policy changes, with the ability to become educated in and capable of handling analytical requests in other areas;
Be familiar with the data sets needed to analyze production and policy questions, and take responsibility for ensuring the organization has the latest information available.
Travel Individual should expect to make 5-6 trips annually outside the DC area.
Salary Commensurate with skills and experience, and in line with USApple budget
