The Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) seeks a Communications and Education Manager to join its team beginning February 2020, in Arlington, Virginia. The Communications and Education Manager is responsible for coordinating AHF’s communications program and managing AHF’s publications. The Manager would be responsible for keeping AHF’s website and social media channels up to date. The Manager would have oversight over AHF’s webinar program and would assist with the launch of new education programs. The Manager would provide customer service support to AHF members utilizing our Benchmarking Express program. AHF’s Benchmarking Express program is a robust software that allows member facilities to benchmark themselves against other member facilities across various Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Other duties as assigned. Reports to the Executive Director.

The ideal candidate is a creative, self-starter who is looking to join a dedicated and energetic team of 3 in managing the association. The candidate will be a capable problem solver and willing to generate new ideas while working with fellow team members. AHF is a cohesive, small team, willing to provide staff members with significant freedom to make management decisions and innovate on behalf of the association and its members. AHF’s team likes to try new things and never stops seeking new, fun, ways to deliver member programs.
Concept, development, and publication of AHF’s quarterly printed magazine S.O. Connected
Concept, development, and publication of AHF’s monthly electronic newsletter S.O. In the Know
Coordination of press releases, announcements, and content for placement on AHF’s website/newsfeeds
Maintenance of AHF’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn)
Serve as staff lead for the development of AHF online educational content including bi-monthly webinars, the AHF e-library, and other programs as assigned
Assist in the launch of a new AHF educational program offering, Tenacity
Serve as staff lead for the implementation, maintenance, and coordination of AHF’s Benchmarking Express program
Each AHF staff member will be responsible for coordinating programs and sub-committees for the AHF Annual Conference to take place each August (Supporting role to the Executive Director)
Attend and support AHF Board of Directors and committee meetings as assigned
Serve as the staff lead for various committees such as the Benchmarking Committee, Editorial Advisory Board, and Education Committee
Attend AHF’s annual conference and other local chapter events as assigned
Support AHF’s Program Manager in the management of AHF’s regional chapters
Provide customer service and administrative support to AHF members by phone, email, or in-person
Bachelor’s degree – advanced degree is a plus
2-5 years of experience in nonprofit management or similar position/role
Exceptional work ethic, eagerness to learn, and must be a self-starter
Outstanding writing and communications skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a small team
Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment
Outstanding interpersonal skills
Knowledge and experience using technology systems and databases
Knowledge of social media management and analytics
Working experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Based in the Washington D.C. Metro Area with reliable transportation (This is not a remote position, although one work from home day per week is currently allowable)
Familiarity with the foodservice management industry, nutrition, or healthcare is a plus
Experience with design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop or Canva is a plus
Experience with Association Management Software (AMS) and/or related database systems is a plus
Experience with WordPress or back-end website management is a plus
Experience with SurveyMonkey, MailChimp, Zoom, and similar systems is a plus
