The Colorado Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP) has an immediate opening for a Director of Communications, Marketing & Membership. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual to lead a dynamic marketing and communications program in a mission-driven, healthcare focused organization.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to both plan for long-term strategic goals and be comfortable executing the day-to-day work of a busy marketing and communications office. Candidates should be passionate about healthcare and helping the CAFP further its mission to serve as the bold champion for Colorado’s family physicians, patients and communities, through education and advocacy.
Marketing & Membership
Develop print and digital marketing and communication campaigns targeted to the diverse segments of the CAFP membership.
Gather and analyze membership data that drives marketing and communication goals and helps shape membership programs and work across organization.
Utilize data and membership feedback to create and refine programs that retain and grow CAFP’s membership.
Stay consistently engaged in learning more about the CAFP membership and member concerns and priorities though an annual membership survey, in-person communications, and more.
Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manor.
Develops and maintains services and programs to enhance member value, including the New Physician Benefits Program
Communication & Public Relations
Manage the development and publication of all CAFP properties, including Colorado Family Physician, the CAFP’s quarterly print magazine, the CAFP’s monthly electronic newsletter, and the CAFP Annual Report.
Create all organizational communications for print and digital channels, including email marketing messages, promotional postcards, infographics, reports, letters of support and recommendation, and more.
Collaborate with the CAFP’s CEO, Director of Education, Events & Meetings, and Deputy CEO for Policy & External Affairs to create strong communications about all areas of organizational work. This includes translating the CAFP’s events, programs and complex legislation into engaging messages for members.
Manage all public relations work of the organization, including writing and distributing press releases, identifying opportunities for leadership and members to engage with the media, occasionally serving as a spokesperson for the organization, and maintaining updated contact information for healthcare reporters across Colorado.
Digital & Website
Create and manage content for CAFP’s website utilizing WordPress.
Create content, monitor and manage the CAFP’s social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
Create and manage paid social media advertising campaigns for CAFP event marketing.
Public Health & Grants
Manage CAFP’s public health programming, including key projects around youth tobacco use prevention, youth marijuana use prevention, and programs that encourage diverse young people to choose primary care.
Write grants for these programs, and seek grant opportunities from funders in Colorado and nationally.
Budget & Reporting
Manage all marketing and communications budgets for the organization.
Prepare clear and concise reports on all marketing and communications activities, including reports to be given to the CAFP’s Board of Directors.
Seek appropriate opportunities for the CAFP to conduct paid advertising and work with those interested in advertising with the CAFP.
Manage the branding and graphic design work done across the organization.
Manage CAFP’s Communications & Marketing Intern, including participating in the hiring process.
All other duties as assigned.
4 year degree minimum.
At least 3 years of experience with marketing and communications work, preferably in a non-profit, healthcare, or agency setting.
Excellent writing and editing skills in both print and digital, including familiarity with AP Style.
Excellent oral communication skills, including giving presentations and representing an organization to groups including the media.
Experience with basic marketing analytics, including web analytics, email marketing analytics, social media analytics, and preparing reports based on these.
Experience with social media platforms in a business or organizational setting, specifically Facebook and Twitter.
Experience with website content management systems, preferably WordPress.
Knowledge of the principals of marketing segmentation and targeted communications.
Knowledge of the principles of public relations work, including writing press releases and assisting others with talking points to use when speaking with the media.
Knowledge of the public health landscape, and a strong interest in managing public health programs and writing grants for these programs.
Highly collaborative, with experience working on teams to accomplish work.
Strong customer service skills, with experience assisting others with questions or concerns.
Experience with paid social media campaigns.
Experience with the Adobe Suite, including Illustrator and InDesign.
