As the AMA’s charitable arm, the AMA Foundation brings together physicians and communities to improve our nation’s health. Join the AMA Foundation as Manager, Advancement. As part of the team, you will be responsible for executing the annual giving program by planning and guiding strategies to increase individual donor gifts and tracks all results. You will also be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, upgrading and stewardship of Annual Giving donors; and serve as point of contact for all AMAF communications.
Develop, implement and track a multi-channel annual giving plan consistent with fiscal year revenue objectives to include direct mail, online giving, social media, and other creative fundraising strategies, in coordination with the overall Individual Giving Development plan and Director of Advancement
Work directly with Director of Advancement to create strategies focused on moving prospects into a major gift pipeline as appropriate Collaborate with the Director of Advancement to develop and implement plans for the AMA Annual and Interim House of Delegates Meetings in June and November
Monitor the monthly progress of annual giving results compared to financial goals; provide regular reports.
Analyze effectiveness of various fundraising methods and messages; adapt future appeals accordingly
Manage relationships with internal committees as well as external vendors to meet annual giving deadlines and goals
Recommend short- and long-term annual giving goals and objectives to the Director of Advancement, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance
Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the annual giving function
Keep informed of developments in the fields of annual giving, not-for-profit management and governance, and the specific business of the AMAF and use this information to help the organization operate with initiative and innovation
Work with AMAF senior leadership team to develop and implement the annual communication plan and serve as the primary source/point of contact of AMAF content
Initiate strategic communications in alignment with and support of fundraising goals
Generate fundraising and interpretive materials for specific audiences, including content for appeal and thank-you letters and other donor communications
Oversee the development, distribution, and maintenance of all collateral, print and electronic, including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, social media, event invitations, and the AMAF website
Review, write and/or provide content to ensure communication is accurate, message is consistent, and aligns with AMAF communication strategy
Write and review prepared remarks for AMAF speaking engagements and speeches in coordination with the Director of Advancement, including but not limited to Speaking Engagements, Opening Remarks, and other speeches as necessary, to ensure cohesive, development focused messaging
Ensure all web and print materials have correct and up to date information (ie: Charity Navigator, AMA intranet, Guidestar, etc)
Lead, mentor and provide management oversight staff; responsible for setting objectives, evaluating performance and developing staff
In coordination with the Director of Advancement, manage a team of support staff to: record and maintain donor, prospect, and gift data, and coordinate the donor and prospect stewardship program
Bachelor’s degree, CFRE preferred
3-5 years of related annual giving work experience, with at least one year of experience managing a team
Experience related to data analysis & reporting; including but not limited to segmentation, annual giving statistics, progress to goals, and other fundraising reports
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills with an impeccable attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks; strong project management skills, including successfully managing and coordinating multiple projects with competing deadlines
Skilled at performing in a team environment as well as being a strong individual contributor; sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Tact, good judgment, and high level of discretion required for confidential donor information
Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Word Press, and the Microsoft Suite required and Luminate Software experience preferred
Minimal travel required
