What we're looking for: We are seeking a professional to assess provisionally accepted journal manuscripts for scientific quality, accuracy, and novelty; apply understanding of complex medical/scientific concepts to review the science of others; and provide substantive editing for other subspecialty journals.

What you'll do:
Identify needed modifications in manuscripts to ensure they clearly communicate the information required by readers to assess the scientific validity of the research reported on, as well as the ability to reproduce its methods and to generalize from the results reported.
Communicate and collaborate with manuscript authors to obtain needed additional information and to clarify information presented in the manuscript.
Ensure required structure for scientific reporting throughout the manuscript, as described in the journal's Publication Information for Authors, are appropriately addressed.
Copyedit manuscripts accepted for publication in journals.
Create visual abstracts for manuscripts.
Work with Editors and staff to conceptualize, write, and produce audio podcasts.
Keep personal and general office records of material's progress through publication stages.
Masters or PhD degree in a scientific discipline
Minimum of five years prior experience as a scientific writer or editorial experience, preferably in the medical field. Applicants with professional experience such as running a lab or biotech are also encouraged.
Strong breadth of scientific interest, the ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues.
Good understanding of scientific and statistical terminology and methods
Prior experience in an imaging science field highly desirable
Fluent English speaker
Familiarity with manuscript processing software desirable
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
High attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as a member of the editorial office team
