The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has an opening for the position of Associate Director of Communications for Digital and Print Media. The associate director assists the director in oversight of a full-service communications department in planning, budgeting, supervising, and managing projects and staff. Manages the development and implementation of content for the association website and other communication channels and assists the director in managing the governance of content on the association website. Develops strategies for the marketing of association products, services, and advertising, and works with staff to develop communications and marketing outreach. Participates in planning the design, writing, editing, and production of publications, reports, and governing documents, both online and print, to support and maintain the association brand and mission. Assists with public and media relations activities, particularly related to the national conference.
NACAC is an education association of more than 15,000 postsecondary and secondary schools, organizations, counselors, and college admission and financial aid officers that work with students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary education. Develops a coherent plan to maximize the value to members and to serve the various publics articulated in the NACAC mission and strategic plan.
Monitors the website and works with other departments to assure that all information is accurate, timely, well-written, consistent in look and feel, and user friendly, and that it meets all governance requirements for online content.
Tracks web statistics, feedback, and other outcomes to measure success. Develops reports on web statistics and trends for CEO, Board of Directors, and other audiences.
Develops effective strategies for enhancing and increasing the association’s digital presence.
Monitors the NACAC Exchange as assigned to assure compliance with guidelines, to resolve problems, and to direct information to the press as needed.
Leads NACAC’s social media activities, increasing our social media presence to broaden NACAC’s reach and engagement with key audiences.
Develops presentations on digital communications for internal and external audiences.
Prepares, develops, and implements marketing and public relations strategies to promote NACAC’s image, products, programs, and advertising opportunities.
Works closely with the membership department to develop strategies and materials to support the recruitment and retention of members.
Develops career information section of website with particular emphasis on growing and maintaining job postings to serve members as both employers and employees.
Keeps current with emerging software, services, platforms, and other technologies to improve the association’s communications and marketing efforts.
Participates as requested in the publication life-cycle (editing, proofing, layout, design, and delivery) of NACAC online and print publications, which may include materials for National College Fairs, national conference, education and training, promotional materials, governance and policy documents, articles, Journal and Bulletin and opinion pieces, and annual reports.
Contracts with photographers, printers, designers and other vendors for ongoing and special projects.
Manages publication and distribution processes when requested.
Participates in planning, design, and production strategies to facilitate and maintain the association’s image and brand.
Maintains mutually beneficial relationships with members, leaders, and State and Regional affiliates as required to support the work of the department.
Assists in the preparation of project plans and budgets.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience with Google Analytics, email marketing tools (e.g., Pardot), and marketing automation is preferred.
10+ years’ experience in publications management, public relations and/or marketing including website and other digital content management with a minimum five of those years in a membership organization.
Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and website maintenance.
Undergraduate degree, preferably in journalism, communications, marketing, publications, public relations, or related areas.

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Understanding of the importance of the role of the association website, and other digital communications in attracting and keeping members and in developing a strong public image that enhances the profession and serves students.
Ability to work well in a team.
