This position will be part of the regulatory affairs team at USTMA. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, the position will staff important technical committees and support USTMA technical development and advocacy of regulatory and legislative positions critical to tire manufacturers making tires in the United States.
Represent the U.S. tire industry on tire testing and performance technical and regulatory issues.
Staff USTMA tire technical committees, coordinate closely with tire engineers from USTMA member companies to develop technical analyses to support USTMA regulatory positions on tire technical rulemakings.
Attend legislative and regulatory proceedings, participate as a stakeholder and testify on relevant issues as appropriate.
Effectively communicate with USTMA member companies about activities, based on priorities set by USTMA management and member companies.
Maintain members only committee websites as assigned.
Review state and federal legislative and regulatory activity in the Federal Register and USTMA tracking services and draft reports for USTMA staff and members.
Liaise cooperatively with other USTMA staff managing related issues on behalf of the tire industry.
4-year degree required in relevant field, including courses of study in transportation, automotive/mechanical engineering or related.
At least 3-5 years relevant professional experience. Experience at a trade association, governmental agency, company or related field helpful.
Understanding of and experience with federal legislative and regulatory processes and related regulations required.
Ability to think strategically in an advocacy context and to use independent judgment in evaluating information
Strong analytical, writing and oral communications skills
Ability to learn complex issues quickly and develop concise policy positions and advocacy plans
Strong interpersonal skills a must
Sharp computer skills - facility with all software in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
