IMSA is offering a competitive compensation package to attract an outstanding candidate to serve as our Executive Director from our International Office located along Florida’s Space Coast in Rockledge, Florida. We seek an enthusiastic and decisive leader with a successful track record of collaborative management and ensuring programs and services are delivered efficiently and effectively. The Executive Director will manage a staff of ten fulltime personnel with an operating budget of $3 million.
The Executive Director reports to a seven member Board of Directors and is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the organization; Board and staff support and development; management and oversight of all IMSA operations; implementation of Board policy; responsible stewardship of the organization’s financial resources; and acts as an organizational liaison with, and provides service to, a diverse community of members, stakeholders, allied organizations and governmental agencies.
IMSA, founded in 1896, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) association with a membership of 12,000+ public safety personnel working in various technical positions of governmental agencies and private companies serving public safety. IMSA provides quality certification programs for the safe installation, operation and maintenance of public safety systems and representing the interests of its members by providing representation, information and educational opportunities.
Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of relevant executive or senior level experience in an organization with accountability to a Board of Directors. A Bachelor’s degree in management, finance or other appropriate field is required; and advanced degree is highly desirable. Experience in nonprofit association management is strongly preferred. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication, analytical, financial, conference management, publishing, consensus-building and entrepreneurial skills, and the ability to foster a creative, inclusive and engaged staff environment and maintain effective working relationships with volunteer leadership. Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, Power-Point and Excel.
