ASIS International, the world's largest membership organization for security management professionals, is offering an exciting opportunity for an innovative content creator. We are seeking a talented multimedia writer and editor to join our editorial team as Assistant Editor of our award-winning magazine, Security Management.
The Assistant Editor is responsible to the Editor-in-Chief for writing, editing, and proofreading features and departments for Security Management and other ASIS publications as well as for the magazine’s website. In addition, the position entails producing short videos and Podcasts, as well as other multimedia for Security Management Online. This role also involves editorial and stylistic maintenance of the SM Web site. The Assistant Editor contributes to other department projects, including but not limited to social media posting and the annual seminar newspaper. The job includes attending conferences, Webinars, and other virtual or in-personal sessions, and turning it into timely and authoritative content.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree (B. A.) preferably in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field and one to two years’ related experience and or training. Journalism experience is required and at least two years working experience as a reporter or editorial experience on a magazine is preferred.
Our ideal candidate must have commitment to producing high-quality editorial content. Excellent writing and copyediting skills are essential. Ability to multitask and meet multiple overlapping deadlines also critical. Must work well independently and as part of a team. Preference will be given to applicants who are adept at using Adobe Premier Pro. Knowledge of Sharepoint, Episerver, Abila and knowledge of social media a plus!
