The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. NAEYC seeks a highly motivated Director of Alliances and Stewardship to be responsible for designing and executing NAEYC’s programs for corporate philanthropy, individual giving, stewardship, fund development, and scholarships; and contributes to the corporate sponsorship growth and fulfillment. The Director produces a fiscally-responsible annual development plan with indicators to measure effectiveness and the impact on the communities we serve. The Director collaborates with the Division Senior Director and management team to shape funder and donor relations.
The Director ensures that prospective donors and relationships closely align with NAAEYC’s mission and values. This person will play a significant role in managing projects related to fulfillment of scholarships, sponsorship and cause-related marketing initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities and Key Objectives
Collaborate with Senior Management and Event Sales Team on corporate support and marketing opportunities related to conferences and meetings
Create annual prospectus for sponsorship, exhibits and related advertising products with the support of the exhibits and advertising teams.
Cultivate new sponsorship prospects, and respond to external inquiries.
Manage the sponsorship fulfillment activities provided by a shared coordinator position.
Manage sponsored-activities at the events.
Expands outreach program with corporate philanthropic foundations to identify critical funds for key association initiatives
Conducts research and networks within the philanthropic community to identify potential targets for corporate philanthropic funding opportunities.
Works closely with departments to conduct targeted outreach to corporate philanthropic foundations, securing meetings and appropriately following up.
Works with departments to help develop dynamic funding proposals.
Developing an annual fundraising plan for corporate and foundation partnerships with specific and measurable goals.
Achieving designated fundraising goals and ensuring resources and internal operations are in place to achieve success.
Loading prospect identification and pipeline management: research and qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities designed to grow the overall portfolio and increase revenue.
Further develops NAEYC’s individual giving, fund development and stewardship program with steady annual growth and support beyond the NAEYC membership
Leads prospect identification and pipeline management: research and qualification; cultivation; solicitation; and stewardship activities designed to grow the overall portfolio and increase revenue.
Nurtures and closely manages relationships with donors, expanding support wherever possible.
Tracks all levels of engagement with donors, funders and corporate sponsors across the association, proactively communicating with NAEYC leadership regarding the status of NAEYC’s relationship with these companies and identifying opportunities for growth.
Responsible for administrative tasks related to fulfilling email and letter campaigns: updating web pages; maintaining a current and relevant database: and writing, creating, and distributing recognition correspondence.

Bachelor’s Degree required.
A track record of 8-10 years of successful engagement with national corporate funders and foundations as demonstrated through executed partnerships and grants, ranging from structuring partnerships and planning grants through activation of highly impactful programs.
Previous experience in positions leading collegial and highly collaborative projects and fundraising opportunities, including programmatic experience and a demonstrated ability to co-create and articulate programs and impact.
Demonstrated passion for NAEYC’s mission, goals, and work.
