Position Overview: The Director, Member Engagement works closely with departments across AGA to ensure members are fully realizing the benefits of AGA membership. The primary objective of this role is member engagement and retention. This leader works to educate members on the many resources and benefits of AGA membership, promote engagement across our diverse portfolio of members and ensure membership dues are current. The Director, Member Engagement manages one person, the Meetings Manager, and reports directly to the Vice President, Industry Relations.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and strong collaborator with the ability to positively influence and gain cooperation and alignment at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Key areas of responsibility:
Member Engagement and Retention – Engage with members from “cradle-to-grave” to ensure they are aware of and fully capitalizing on the value of AGA membership.
Lead design and implementation of member onboarding program.
Design and implement communications strategies that effectively keep AGA value proposition at top-of-mind awareness for members, specifically for each member company.
Drive member participation in and attendance at AGA’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) tradeshows in collaboration with our tradeshow partner Reed Exhibitions.
Solicit member feedback regularly to ensure AGA is meeting or exceeding expectations.
Recommend changes to and/or new member benefits in keeping with member feedback.
Communicate regularly with relevant AGA staff to ensure they are up-to-speed on member mindset – individual members and membership as a whole. Partner internally as needed to address member concerns.
Ensure all membership dues are current and that collections are handled in both an equitable and politically sensitive manner that aligns with our overall membership strategy.
Take an active role in committee engagement with guidance from the VP.
Event Development, Planning and Direction
Oversees all event logistics, including all vendors and contractors, as well as on-site support for AGA staff and setup; manages Meetings Coordinator, as needed, in support of events.
Leads and oversees logistical development and planning for AGA Board-related events, including Board and committee meetings, CEO Roundtable and other current/future meetings and events.
Conducts site visits, negotiates contracts/rates and manages external relationships, while engaging internal stakeholders for input and approvals.
Engages in and advises on related marketing and partnership efforts.
Reviews and assists with the development of event invitation lists to ensure quality over quantity, and coordinates the attendance of key members as appropriate.
Gathers feedback on events in conjunction with AGA communications team and AGA-member event lead and/or through regular contact with attendees, as needed.
Provides leadership and support for driving attendance to current and future AGA events.
General Communications – Craft, create and support communications related to member engagement for various programs and services with a primary focus on G2E and AGA membership.

Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s degree required
Five-seven years of experience leading communications at executive level
Experience leading others required
Association experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of the gaming industry, particularly tribal gaming, is a plus
Exceptional written communications skills including speeches, executive talking points, strategic positioning documents and member communications.
Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple shifting priorities.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to gain consensus, influence, negotiate and ensure alignment.
Exceptional interpersonal skills. Able to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels.
Strong customer focus and member mindset. Keeps finger on the pulse of what’s important to our members and makes strategic decisions accordingly.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Working knowledge of email marketing, database/CRM management and digital publishing systems.
