Membership Assistant for the American Association for Justice
The American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA®), is seeking to fill a Membership Assistant position in the Membership Department. AAJ seeks to promote a fair and effective civil justice system—and to support the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in America’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests.
AAJ is looking for a Membership Assistant to: • Provide customer support for membership hotline. • Make daily retention calls and send retention lists to the Marketing Department to send out monthly. • Check membership voicemails, emails, and faxes daily. • Be proficient with the NetForum membership database. • Process new membership applications and renewal invoices, create new member records, and update the membership database. • Assist with the creation of membership data reports and tracking. • Process reconciled daily batches, refunds, adjustments, and cancellation requests. • Generate individual invoices. • Make recommendations to increase the effectiveness of membership retention campaigns. • Assist with the coordination of all aspects of AAJ’s membership recruitment efforts including, but not limited to phonathons, mailings, and research of prospective members. • Provide the Senior Membership Manager, Retention and Call Center with weekly and monthly reports. • Actively promote a membership and customer service culture throughout the organization. • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university. • Prior association and/or non- profit experience preferred. • Previous demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written. • Customer service experience required. • Knowledge of NetForum database preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills. • Ability to work in a team environment. • Interest in social justice, politics, and protecting consumers is essential. • Some travel may be required.
