Education is an important component of our membership benefit. We offer our members a variety of educational opportunities to grow their personal and professional skills, and to maintain their CPA license. Educational offerings must be up-to-date with current, relevant topics in accounting and finance and engaging to the participants. Our programs are offered live in-person, simulcast, workshop, webinar, and on-line to suit the needs of the learner. Our goal is to find a Chief Learning Director, responsible for the Society’s educational offerings, from strategy to final quiz question, using the best adult learning techniques available.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Establish the overall strategy for developing and delivering products and services that position ICPAS as a leader in accounting and finance knowledge and education. a. Identify and assess new methodologies, technologies and trends in the area of adult learning in order to develop and implement strategies that will enhance the content, delivery and competitive positioning of ICPAS live and electronic programming. b. Proactively identify relevant trends in the accounting and finance industry and anticipate important learning implications for ICPAS program development c. Facilitate research, planning, content development, and implementation of new programs that create the highest quality educational opportunities for members using state-of-the-art adult learning techniques. d. Scan the environment to ensure that the ICPAS educational offerings are at the top of the field; know who the competition is and what they are doing. Identify, recommend and incorporate best practices. 2. Collaborate with staff members who manage member committees to plan educational offerings. 3. Responsible for overseeing the process for booth and sponsorship sales. 4. Manage the Video production process for educational programs and sharing resources with other departments for marketing videos. 5. Oversee and develop the department staff of seven employees. Evaluate need for outside vendors for special projects. 6. Create yearly budget, adjust as needed during financial year to meet or exceed goals. 7. Identify new, and nurture existing, relationships for program development opportunities that support the educational strategy and strategic plan, and support the organization’s revenue-generating goals. 8. Collaborate with the Marketing Department to deliver significant value and financial return on educational products and services while meeting the needs of members and other customers. 9. Serve as main ICPAS representative for AICPA/state society events focused on learning and education; involve other team members in specific activities as warranted 10. Serve as Team Leader for Professional Development Curriculum Team (cross-functional)
1. Master’s degree in educational design, curriculum development, organizational development or related field is highly preferred. 2. At least 10 years of progressively more responsible management experience in developing educational programs for professionals. Knowledge of and experience in a professional association environment preferred. Understanding of accounting principles, a plus. 3. Knowledge of the concepts and practices of adult learning; expertise with the full spectrum of methods and alternatives for delivering learning solutions. 4. Demonstrated proficiency in developing creative learning solutions and experience in leading rapid prototyping in design and development of learning programs. 5. Demonstrated proficiency in managing the financial and operational activities of an education business unit/function within an organization. 6. High degree of emotional intelligence with proven ability to build and sustain relationships, to adeptly represent the organization, and to make a positive connection with others. 7. Strong interpersonal and communications skills – conversational, presentation, and business communications, marketing, and written strategic and operational plans. 8. Proven ability to work with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Ability to work in a team environment. 9. Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies to achieve targeted objectives that identify and meet organizational needs
