The Manager, Professional Learning designs, implements and supports EDUCAUSE face-to-face and blended learning programs including EDUCAUSE Institute programs and conference-based learning experiences. S/he ensures that these programs advance the overall strategic priorities of the Professional Learning and Communities and Research teams, and serve member needs with excellence in program design and development, program delivery, and program evaluation. The Manager, Professional Learning also advises senior leaders on methods for improving or enhancing the member experience in face-to-face and blended learning programs and aligning services with member needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides event and instructional design and content expertise for the development and execution of effective professional development and community engagement in face-to-face and blended learning programs.
Performs assigned tasks to develop and support face-to-face and blended programs including:
Scheduling and event planning;
Event facilitation and presentation;
Development and support of faculty;
Promotion of programs;
Evaluation of programs congruent with the overall Professional Learning portfolio;
Continuous improvement of the curriculum, content, interactivity, and overall learner experience;
Adheres to an established set of face-to-face and online program processes and standards; gathers and analyzes data to recommend ongoing program improvements; identifies ways to increase attendance, participant engagement and satisfaction, cost-containment, and revenue generation.
Develops, executes, and continuously improves consultation services and resources for faculty and facilitators to ensure quality instructional design and participant engagement.
Executes and supports research and evaluation of conference/event engagement tactics to enhance member learning and networking experiences; identifies emerging practices to build and nurture professional communities and support personalized learning experiences for members.
Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) established annually for face-to-face and blended programs including attendance, revenue and investment returns (ROI), and audience satisfaction.
Acts as a good steward of EDUCAUSE financial and other resources; manages face-to-face and blended programs and other organizational projects within budget; works to achieve annual revenue targets for all products in the Professional Learning portfolio.
Represent EDUCAUSE in a professional manner at all times; engages with co-workers, volunteers, and members in a civil, caring, respectful way.
Education and Experience
A baccalaureate degree in education, communication, business or related field required, graduate work/degree preferred.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in learning and professional development with a history of work in faculty development, instructional design, and/or professional education; equivalent years of work experience in event management or consulting may be considered.
The ability to clearly demonstrate effective teaching practice and delivery of an engaging face-to-face learning experience.
An established record as an effective individual contributor and team member in a diverse organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of adult learning theory, effective teaching and learning, curriculum design and community building best practices;
Experience with and understanding of web-based communication, online learning and conference technologies;
Superior writing, editing and presentation skills;
Strong interpersonal skills, a keen sense of collegiality and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of groups including executive, professional, and technical audiences, in person and online;
Ability to sustain collaborative relationships, forge partnerships, and build consensus within diverse communities of practice;
Ability to synthesize information and handle detail-oriented work, achieving tangible results;
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in an efficient, timely, and well-organized manner, keeping the appropriate constituencies informed and involved;
Excellent project management skills in individual and group work situations, including demonstrated ability to manage multiple short-range and long-term projects simultaneously and work independently to meet all deadlines.
